Dan Nickey
Associate Director
As the Associate Director with over 30 years of experience at the IWRC, I have had the opportunity to help shape the organization into what it is today. I have advised three of our previous Directors and represented the IWRC at the state and national level. I also assisted in the creation and management of the Energy Efficiency Assistance Program which works directly with Iowa small businesses to address environmental and energy concerns with solutions tailored to their specific needs.
In addition to building strong relationships within the IWRC and with the communities we serve, I contribute to the operational side of the organization through budgeting and investigating funding opportunities. I also stay actively involved in the field by serving on the board of the Iowa Association for Energy Efficiency (IAEE) and facilitating the Iowa Solid Waste Educators Group. These roles allow me to continue developing professionally while sharing my knowledge of energy efficiency and environmental compliance.
What I value most is the opportunity to help Iowa small businesses reduce their environmental impact and ease the burden of compliance through free and accessible support. My commitment to environmental stewardship also carries into my personal life through everyday practices like composting.
